WILD LICORICE (Glycyrrhiza lepidota Pursh)   GROWTH HABIT: Perennial, erect, in patches or clumps on moist sites. LEAVES: Alternate, compound with 11-19 lance shaped leaflets. STEMS: Simple or erect branches toward the top, 1-2 ft. Tall. FLOWER: Green-white to white, pea-type in clusters (spikes) on long stems. ROOTS: Deep, spreading roots capable of vegetative reproduction. SEEDS: Bean-shaped, 1/8 inch long, reddish-brown, smooth and dull, contained in a burlike seed pod to 3/4 inch long, covered with stout, hooked prickles. OTHER: Spreads by root and seeds.
