SILVERLEAF NIGHTSHADE

GROWTH HABIT: Perennial, erect to 3 feet tall.

LEAVES: Narrow, lance-shaped with smooth margins, covered with dense short hairs that give plant a gray or silvery appearance.

STEMS: Branched above, covered with dense short hairs and sparse short yellow thorns.

FLOWER: Violet to light blue flowers with yellow centers, 5 lobed, 1 inch wide.

ROOTS: Extensive rhizomes.

SEEDS: Small, flattened seeds in a yellow to orange berry, which may darken with age.

OTHER: Native to central U.S.
