Keep ahead of lawn drought
By Alan D. Blaylock and Rodney L. Davis

Summer drought is a fact of life in our state. Desert conditions prevail most years throughout Wyoming, and people who use prevention methods help reduce unsightly scorch and/or lawn loss. Learning how to begin a turf management system will produce a deeper rooted, healthier, and more drought-resistant lawn.

Keep ahead of lawn drought explains how to develop a turf management system. The two-page bulletin discusses the best tools for water supply during hot and dry periods.  A deep and extensive root system means more water can be supplied during periods of extreme heat and drying winds.

According to the authors, “Encouraging deep rooting will help maintain healthy attractive turf, even during Wyoming’s desert summers.”
