UW, USDA host range management workshop in Evanston
Animal nutrition, grazing management and new plant development for improving pastures and rangelands are topics of a seminar Tuesday, Jan. 30, in Evanston.
The seminar is provided by the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) and the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS). The workshop is 9:50 a.m.-3:30 p.m. at the Beeman-Cashin Building, 10th and Front streets.
“Successfully managing range resources is crucial to the long-term success of Wyoming producers,” said Bridger Feuz, UW CES educator for Uinta and Sweetwater counties. “This workshop will provide information and tools to help producers make good range management decisions.”
ARS plant scientists and UW CES personnel will present information.
Lunch will be provided by the Forage and Range Research Laboratory in Logan, Utah.
Seminar topics include:
▪ New developments in pasture and range grasses
▪ Forage kochia for fall and winter grazing
▪ Utilizing legumes to enhance rangeland productivity
▪ Seeding and establishing irrigated and dry land pastures
▪ Grazing management underpinned by principles of plant growth
