Lander workshop offers resources to small-acreage owners
Small-acreage owners curious about issues unique to their lifestyle can hear from natural resource experts at a small-acreage, hands-on workshop in Lander.
The workshop is 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday, May 13, at the Museum of the American West, 1445 West Main St.
Seminar topics concern trees, lawns, gardening, composting, “WyoScaping” –maintaining an attractive landscape while conserving water – and backyard wildlife.
“This is going to be an excellent program for anyone living on a small acreage, from starting a new lawn to gardening,” said Ron Cunningham, University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) Fremont/Wind River educator.
Workshop sponsors are UW CES and the Popo Agie Conservation District.
A similar small-acreage workshop last month in Casper drew 54.
Land parcels up to 49 acres are the fastest growing farm size in Wyoming, according to the 2002 U.S. Department of Agriculture Census. Holdings with at least $1,000 in annual agricultural production are considered a farm by the USDA.
