UW extension educator joins Wind River Reservation office

Lisa Perry has joined the University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service (UW CES) Wind River Reservation office as agriculture and natural resource educator.

Perry began June 19. Her office is in Blue Sky Hall in Ethete.

“I am very excited to join the CES team,” said Perry, “and I am looking forward to all the great new experiences.  People have been very welcoming and supportive. This helps make any new transition easier.”

Perry graduated this spring from the UW College of Agriculture with a bachelor’s of science degree in rangeland ecology and watershed management. She was raised in Fort Washakie and completed a CES internship on the reservation last summer. She organized the Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho Agriculture Summit, which drew more than 30 producers to discuss issues important on the reservation, said Susan James, federal relations and staff development coordinator with the UW CES.

She has worked as a tribal water engineer assistant, during which she assisted with water sample collections on the reservation. Perry also assisted a Bureau of Indian Affairs range technician surveying landscapes on the reservation.

“Lisa will be a great asset to the CES program on the Wind River Indian Reservation, not only because of her strong educational background, but she also understands the American Indian culture,” said James.

Perry can be contacted at (307) 332-3976 or lperry@uwyo.edu.
