4-Hers from seven counties place in Wyoming meats judging contest
Wyoming 4-H members from Albany, Fremont, Goshen, Laramie, Natrona, Niobrara and Uinta counties placed in the 2006 state 4-H meats judging contest April 8 at the University of Wyoming Meats Laboratory.
The contest attracted nearly 100 4-Hers, leaders, parents, coaches and workers. It was hosted by the UW Department of Animal Science and the UW Cooperative Extension Service State 4-H Office.
“UW meats lab Manager Shane Thompson, the UW Meats Judging Team including Coach Keith Underwood, and Department of Animal Science Associate Professor Warrie Means worked very hard to set up the contest and serve as reason takers,” said Stephen Schafer, state 4-H/youth specialist with the UW CES.
Assisting were Schafer, Johnathan Despain, Steve Mack and Lindsey Moniz of the state 4-H office, and several members of the UW Collegiate 4-H Club.
