UW bulletin describes how to brighten
landscapes with annuals
A University of Wyoming Cooperative Extension Service horticulture specialist shows in a new bulletin how annuals can paint a landscape with bright patches of color.
“Annuals are highly important in Wyoming gardens and landscapes because of their diversity in foliage color and texture, flower color and size and adaptability,” states Karen Panter in Landscaping: Flowering Annuals for Wyoming, B-1170.
“Annual blossoms are quite colorful and plants will bloom all growing season. There are hundreds of species and cultivars available, most of which will thrive in Wyoming,” she said.
Panter recommends ways to prepare the soil, planting, watering and fertilizer methods, and staking. Pests and winter care are also examined.
The bulletin also explores using annuals in containers and offers a list of flowers with height, spread, flower color, sun exposure and water information.
